5 Tips to Soften Your Space

Looking to soften your space for Spring? Now is the perfect time to infuse the home with warm and inviting touches. Here are 5 easy ways to bring that soft, cozy feeling to your home.

Drapery
The usage of light and airy window treatments can soften a room and create a romantic, draping effect. I especially love sheer, light colored panels as seen in this photo, to soften a space.

Lighting
Warm, white lighting is key to creating a soft and serene room. I have arranged lamps and chandeliers throughout The Shoppe and The Farmhouse, to lighten the mood and create a romantic ambience.

Slipcovers
Slipcovers are a great way to bring a relaxed, cozy feel to a room. They can also soften the hard lines and boxy edges of a piece of furniture.
Bring the Outside in
Incorporate flowers and natural elements from the outdoors. Nature not only softens a space but also add a tremendous amount of texture to a hard space.

Color
Decorating with shades of white and pastels can soften your space. Choose complimentary colors of the same tone to create a soothing effect. White, creamy taupes and pale robins egg are a few of my favorites.
What are your favorite tricks to soften a space?
I would love to hear your ideas!

  3. Lack of color and lack of elements work for me, LaurieAnna. Whites, creamy whites, and like you - pale blues/greys thrown in. And of course...hydrangeas, peonies, roses, and lavender. Loved your photos today, girlie!
