The Nickel Tour - Part 2 of the Before Pics

Oh boy did you ever tickle me with all your comments in the previous post!  You "get" exactly where I'm planning to take this place! :-))

As a designer, shoppe owner, antique dealer, extreme DIYer, and vintage home junkie extraordinaire, I couldn't have found a more perfect home had I looked for a hundred years.

No way Jose' could we have found anything better for us to dig our paint covered, sawdust under the fingernails, DIY, hard-working fingers into!
Okay, now that I have unloaded that hyperactive amount of A.D.D. enthusiasm, I can focus again and get back to the tour.

In the last post I showed you the living areas that are positioned to the left of the entry hall, now let's move to the right side.

Come this way.....
This doorway leads into what will one day be our master bedroom.
The original hardwood floors are in tact throughout the home.
And, that my friends is a gift from the Heavens.
And, all of the work that was done to this home during the past renovation is quality professional work, that too is an amazing gift.

One of the best things about vintage homes are the high ceilings, and reaching just under 12 feet, these babies are a decorator's dream!
Are you swooning with me?

There are original beadboard ceilings in almost every room,
they were among the things that really excited me about this house.  I say among because I don't even know how to separate all the things that excite me about this house!  Again I say....great bones!

That door to the left in the photo above leads into what will become our master bathroom.
Let's take a peek, shall we?
A vintage home just isn't a vintage home without a clawfoot tub, and this house has two!  You will see the other one in another post.
This bath has a single pedestal vintage sink, which is just perfect for a bed and breakfast bathroom.
But, for a master bathroom, not so much.
We have a plan for that....more on that later.

This bathroom was added to the house in the 1990s, but they did such a good job with the details, you wouldn't know it wasn't original unless someone told you.

I love the attention paid to the detail in the ceiling and
the efforts to match the pattern of the woodwork.
This house has seen many changes over the years and no doubt we will make many, many changes of our own during the journey of making it our home.
But some things are perfect no matter what the decorating style.

These perfect appointments are our boundaries.
Okay, let's move into the next bedroom that will one day
be transformed into my office and studio!  Giddiness abounds!

The entry to this bedroom is off of the master bedroom,
how sweet is that?
I can't wait to let the sunshine in!
You see that center window located to the right of the room in the photo above?  That is the same large window that you see on the right side of the house front below.  It's over 4' wide!
I'm planning to add a huge window flower box so I can see the flowers from my workspace.  Isn't that a lovely thought?
More beadboard ceilings.
I told you they are everywhere!
Happy happy joy joy... again I say.....great bones!
The ceilings are wonderful, but my favorite thing about my
future studio is the view from the exterior door.
Did I mention that it has its own personal vintage door with a gorgeous vintage screen that leads to the front porch?
Are these screens not to die for?

I could daydream here for hours.

So many decorating projects ahead for us that it's almost dizzying!

I still have so many more rooms and before photos to show you.

But first, tell me what you think so far?

What do you see for the rooms you've seen to this point?

  10. Wow, I love your office space. You are so lucky and you know it!! Love that screen door. I had an 1881 victorian house and I had a screen door custom made to look like an old one...yours is a beauty. Well I see lots of white paint, in the 5 gallon bucket variety! Ceilings and woodwork! Maybe even some floors...but the walls should have a touch of contrast in pale grey or cream...to show off the amazing woodwork.

  14. The home will be filled with charm and love as it is flowing through my computer screen.. I love your passion and certainly the house deserves the very best... I will be looking forward to the lovely stampps you place on this home to make it in your style and personal taste although it doesn't seem to need to many structure changes...

  16. ok..I would have a hard time painting any of the woodwork as it is just part of being old. There is a warmth about the look of wood.
Lightening the walls is good. I have to say I love the old sink in the bathroom. Somehow I would try to incorporate a marble vanity around it...not sure how you do that..but
Can't wait to see the kitchen!!
