YEEHAW!!

I’m pretty selective with projects these days, but this late 1800s rocking horse was worthy. He's the real McCoy and is quite large. You can tell that lots of tots have enjoyed him over the years.

From the looks of him, someone gave him a new paint job, probably in the 90s when sponge painting was so popular. It looks as if they also added a striped riding blanket.

Hubby and I took turns sanding off the paint; I trimmed off the blanket; and VOILA, he’s good as new! Or should I say, good as old!?

Time to complete....an hour and half. Now, that's my kind of project!

I love the old (and new reproduction) rocking horses. One company even makes Saddlebred ones that have the high leg action!

Love it-especially love the fact it was a joint effort project. That just makes it even more special. It truly is a beautiful piece of folkart. P.S. I may need to publish a Cat Daddy dictionary! Debbie

There is something so precious about old objects made new again. I love the older items in my house more than the new ones. Something about knowing there is history behind that one thing that someone loved at one point is so special to me! I love this horse!
