We all love and respect them, but firemen hold a special place in my heart for a very personal reason. You see, not only was my husband a firefighter when he was younger, but both of his brothers were/are firefighters, and his father spent over a decade serving as a volunteer fireman.
So, when Deidra of Dee Dee Style produced these rings during her trunk show at the shoppe, my heart skipped a beat the moment I saw FD. They are rings that she handcrafted from the vintage buttons of an 1880s New York Fireman's uniform. On the back the buttons are inscribed " C.G. Braxmar Co. NY".
Aren't they just wonderful? I bought both of the rings that Deidra had and plan to give them as gifts to each of my sister-in-laws, couldn't have found anything more fitting and personal if I had searched for a hundred years!
Since the show, Deidra has made rings from the remaining 3 buttons that she had and has listed them on her Etsy shop for those of you that have firefighters in your family, or friends/family with firefighting hearts.
