The Farmhouse Pantry

Last week's recipe post did two things for me:
1.  Made me hungry
2.  Made me think about farmhouse pantries

And let me just say that I L-O-V-E:  love, love, love farmhouse pantries!

(etsy.com)

They are designed with open shelves that allow us to gaze on wonderful items that have been canned, jarred, or pickled---homemade goodies, prepared with care to save for a special occasion...or for a stormy day...or to share with a neighbor.

Sometimes they are a place to hang favorite aprons used by generations of grandmothers and mothers---many of them worn or tattered, or even stained, which makes them even more priceless in my eyes.

And let's talk about dishes!  Great shelving in a pantry can provide a place to store (and display) favorite collections of dishes often tied to wonderful memories of family gatherings around the supper table.

Many favorite family recipes get their start in the farmhouse pantry, born out of wonderful vintage bins filled with just the right staples.

And what a great place to keep cookbooks and recipe cards that have been passed down with love!

Some pantries are found behind fun doors, while others are beautiful,
open extensions of kitchens.

And the one thing they all have in common?  They are all stocked with love!

Did I mention that I LOVE farmhouse pantries?

How about you?
What are some of your favorite farmhouse pantry designs or staples?

I'd love to have a pantry.
To even consider having one... I'd have to build a piece of furniture. Probably out of old scrap wood.
Brushed lovingly with white paint.
With a door...that looks like it came off an old barn.
...and of course rusty hinges.
It would more than likely need wheels under it...big huge industrial wheels... so I could move it just in case I didn't like it where it was...since I have an unfitted kitchen. Of course it would need one of those cool Pantry signs on it...probably the black one. :)
All your inspiration photos...have me dreaming! Pat

Thanks for the nice review of pantries. I noticed that the 3rd photo didn't have a source, so I thought I would share it in case anyone wants more info

I love farmhouse pantries, too. I just want to open the door and gaze at all the goodies. Takes me back to my grandmother's house. xo Laura

P.S. I can never get enough of vintage aprons. :)

So glad that you all enjoyed the post!

Pat - You are so sweet, and your comments made my heart smile! Sounds like you may have a panty project in your future!

Nelda - Since the picture you referenced is watermarked, we did not include an additional source call-out below it. That kind of detail is so important to me when folks share my images, and I really appreciate you watching out for it!

Laura - I am with you! Such a happy feeling to think about gazing in those great pantries to see all the goodies!
