Porch Swing Cosmetics

Old wicker is wonderful, it surely is.
But, faux wicker is so practical for outdoor spaces.
Our old faux wicker porch swing is almost 10 years old.  We have used it in many places, I featured it on the blog HERE several years ago.

I love our swing so much that I have recommended the same swing for a number of decorating projects because you just can't beat it for easy maintenance.

When necessary, I can clean this one with a water hose, soap and a scrub brush, and it looks as good as the day we bought it.

However, the chain and its plastic sleeve are really showing their age now, and it's not good aging.
So, I used a couple of our cord covers to hide them.

Snap snap snap....problem solved.  :-))

Note: Cord cover is to porch swing as makeup is to women.

Okay, get to making up those porch swing chains!!

P.S. First Monday begins next Thursday, May 3rd - hope to see you there!

LaurieAnna: You are right. Real wicker is beautiful but certainly doesn't hold up outside indefinitely. Plastic wicker,(sounds horrible) but works really well. We have two sets that have withstood the elements for 2 winters now..Porch is beautiful and restful..Happy Thursday..Judy

Laurie, your porch looks beautiful, and what a great ideal to put the cover over the chain. I have an old porch swing I'm wanting to pull out of storage and I love the look of the cover so I will be doing that to mine no matter if the chain looks bad or not . It's a great look! Thanks for the ideal.

I have a whole set of white plastic wicker. do you have any suggestions for painting it? It's white now and I'm ready for a change, maybe a nice bone color. I'm worried that theist will peel from plastic!

Your porch is so sweet! I love the swing...we have a wooden one but it does well since we take it done every fall. I do have faux wicker and I love how it cleans up! And it's fun to play with cushions every spring! :)

Jane
