You are looking at the upper part of the stairwell in our home - to give you a perspective, the upper wall is 11 feet tall.
Measuring a whopping 6 foot long, 4 foot tall, this wonderful dollhouse is perched some 18 feet above the foyer below. This Antebellum haven for dolls, that was built completely by hand, is complete with wallpapered interior walls and lighting. Good friends of ours discarded the house when they downsized after their girls left for college. What a find!
Resting underneath the dollhouse is a shelf created by two corbels that I rescued from a debris pile of a house that was being torn down. They collected dust in hubby's shop for a couple of years before they finally got the nod to come inside!
Last, but certainly not least, is the massive wooden "Cupboard Antiques" sign mounted on the wall – it’s one of my favorite finds!! The sign graced a storefront for many decades before it as pulled. When I saw a new sign going up on the storefront for a new business, I immediately turned my truck around to chat with the sign man. Imagine my disbelief when I discovered that the old sign had been sentenced to the dumpster. Disbelief turned to excitement when I pulled around back and found I had beaten the trash guys!! I was grinning from ear to ear as I struggled to load the dirty, jagged nail, splintery piece! What fun!
These 3 items make for a fun junk grouping, but the grouping of junk stories is the real fun!

I love the stories as much as the beautiful pieces!

Laurie: I remember seeing that cool antiques sign at your open house and it's fits perfect there. Do you still have the small piece of fence, that was pretty long/tall, in your bedroom. Just curious. I've thought of that for so long. Take care and thanks for such sweets words of encouragement, Theresa
I just love the dollhouse~ and the way you have it resting on the corbels...The sign, fabulous! Great story...I can just see you in a truck...CUTE!
