I need a good support group....

Okay, so this afternoon I called my hubby and told him to go ahead and file for a divorce.

It all started like this.....we had a storm today that scared my slobber monsters, aka my dogs. Thunder really spooks them and one of my big guys, Eddie, cleared the fence and was snagged by the dog catcher before I could round him up. He was two streets over when I pulled up and they were loading him into the truck. I tried to persuade the catcher to let me have him, but no-can-do, gotta go down and pay the fine. Okay, so be it....I'll follow the truck downtown.

I was a tad annoyed, but relieved that my buddy was okay, just needed to bail him out of doggy jail. But, while I'm waiting....in walks a lady with 4 kittens in a pet carrier. I'm standing at the counter and I can hear their lil cries. I kept telling myself...."Don't look down....don't look down....don't look down". And all the while that I'm uttering these words in my head, I'm staring at the sign above the counter that reads, "This shelter euthanized 184,319 animals last year, please spay or neuter your pet".

Long story short, I came home with Eddie and 4 new kittens. And also a new friend, Donna, that was surrendering the babies....she cried when I offered to take them.

My logic.....God led me to the shelter at that exact time for a reason. While in route home, I called hubby at work and told him to go ahead and file for a divorce....I'm beyond help! He just laughed and asked me to send him a pic. He's such a sweetheart to put up with all my animal rescue activities!!

This is a pitiful pic....they are fast lil movers, but they are absolutely adorable! Now, it's family finding time, meanwhile, I'm loving these furry lil babies and thankful to know they are safe and sound, as is Eddie.

Blessings,

LaurieAnna

P.S. One home found, three to go!

Wow God is so good. It is so encouraging when the Bible says that our steps our ordered of the Lord. Nothing is by chance, but rather by divine appointment. That is so neat. Blessings on you and the new additions to your family!! :)

What a sweet thing you did! And I am so happy that your darling boy is OK too! My poor Teddy hates gunshots and fireworks just like your Eddie...he gets so upset he shakes, drools and crys!
I am not a cat person but, those cats are beautiful, the blue eyes are amazing! I will pray they will all get a home soon...

Laurie: I'm a sucker for animals. I found a hurt dog in my ditch the other day; I'm sure he layed there all day until we got home and fed and gave him water. he wouldn't let me move him, but I could tell he was really hurt. I covered him until I could call animal control to come and get him to receive medical care. I kept checking on him and told them if his owner didn't come for him I wanted him. But, luckily they did come for him. I just couldn't bare to think he'd be put to sleep. Then, there are my neighbors cats, that seem to love my house more because I feed them, hello. Well, I've basically adopted them and named them!!

WHat a wonderful person you are! I have the same 'affliction' and need the same twelve step program. I had the cat left behind by the lady across the street several years ago, and now that's mushroomed to 7 cats and that doesn't include the ones I try to help that come by for a snack. It gets overwhelming, and then one of them begins to purr for no apparent reason... how can you resist THAT?! Thank you for being YOU and loving them... You obviously have a HUGE heart and are a really special person!
Thank you for your kindness in visiting my blog! What a wonderful surprise to have a comment from you, and I really hope you'll visit again. I love your blog... your writing is wonderful and I will be back, and back and back to see you!

Hi! I'm blog hopping and I saw yours and noticed that your name is nearly the same as mine - Laurie Ann! And what a story about those cute kitties! I thought you really were getting a divorce. Glad that's not the case! Good luck finding them homes. I would have taken them too! :)

I would have done the EXACT same thing. In fact, I have. When my mother passed away in late '02 I started thinking "I want have another baby" thoughts and my husband suggested a kitten might me a better option. I came home w/ 2 blue russians. 5 weeks old. Rescue kitties. Brother and sister. Toby & Lili and they singlehandedly got me through the roughest part of my life thus far. Love animals and love that you saved those sweet babies. Kudos and good things to you!!!

God Bless you LaurieAnna! All of my animals have either been dropped off and wandered on to my country property or they have been rescued from animal shelters...both kitties and dogs. Your husband sounds like a wonderful man who knows that this is important to you. My husband also has allowed me to do the same and he has fallen in love with each and every one of these sweet animals. I am sure you will find homes for them all!

OMG, thank heavens you are in Texas and I am in Mass or I would run right over for a kitten or two. I already have four, but what's the difference between 4 and six??

Hello there,
I'm loving the faux cabbage leaves (and everything else) I bought from you this month at First Monday. I'd like to get more, but I won't be able to go next month. Would you be able to mail some to me?
Here are a couple of pics I took of my first hydrangeas and gardenias on one of the leaves.

Many thanks,

P. S. LOVE the Dean Martin!

Oops! I left my comment about the cabbage leaves on the wrong post -- meant to leave it on the 'Auntie Em. . ' post.
Thanks again,
Georganne
P.S. We have 4 rescued cats ourselves -- how can you resist?!

Just found you and will be back to visit when I have more time! Since I just found you I was hooked by the first line about divorce. Thought you needed a support group for divorcees. Smile. Glad you were able to be adding to your family instead of dismantling.

So glad, LaurieAnna, that you rescued those cute kitties, but I'm glad you didn't lose your dog, too.
There is a stray dog coming around that is starving and I'm feeding it by leaving food and water out for it. I hope it will eventually let me befriend it and stick around. Right now, it's just too afraid to let anyone near it.
