Vintage Mixing Bowls and Butter Molds

For as long as I can remember, I have loved old stoneware mixing bowls and butter / jelly molds - I have been collecting them for years.

There's such charm in these wonderful vintage things, the aged colors, the heavy weight of them, the lines, the crazing, even the cracks and chips....they evoke such warm feelings for me. Perhaps the thing I find most beautiful about them is the simplicity. I adore them.

When I was younger I could find them for bargain prices, but not so anymore particularly with the antique molds. On the rare occasion that I stumble across them they are typically attached to a hefty price tag.

The new cupboard in the cottage kitchen needed something to warm it up....something to give it some age. These vintage beauties were a good fit....the perfect mix of old and new.

I just love the character these old pieces give to the space. And, doesn't the color look delicious against the butcher-block countertop? Makes me want to get out the flour and bake something.
